The Author

Stephen Ball was born in Newmarket, United Kingdom, in 1956.

After a primary education in a village, he attended Soham Village College between age 11 and 16. Gaining 7 o levels.

Stephen’s first job after leaving school in 1972 was at Ridgeon’s Ltd in Cambridge. The company supplied building materials and was the largest family-owned business in Cambridge at that point in time.

After five years at Ridgeons working in various positions, but mostly accounting, Stephen set sail for London in 1977.

In London various accounting jobs were in advertising, restaurants, trading brand a teachers trade union.

When a bad economic recession combined with redundancy occurred in 1993, Stephen moved to Dalian, China to set up a restaurant/night club.

Then in 1994 moving on to Singapore for another senior job in a seafood restaurant group.

In 1995 Stephen returned to living and working in London but moved back to Newmarket permanently in 1998 where he was based until retirement in 2022.

His interests are watching sport on tv and cooking foreign food.
